You do not need to be staying with us to make The Psalter your place. Come in for a morning coffee, open the laptop for an hour, meet somebody for lunch, have a quick bite while the children are at Constance Grant Dance Centre next door, or settle in for Friday small plates and cocktails.
The Psalter Bar is designed to work around real life. Some guests arrive for coffee and catch up on emails. Some are meeting friends. Some are waiting nearby while their children dance next door. Others simply want somewhere comfortable to sit, eat and enjoy a drink.
That mix is exactly what we want. We are an independent Sheffield hotel, but the bar should feel every bit as much a part of the local community as it does part of the hotel.
The Bar Menu is designed to suit the way people actually want to eat. Come in for a couple of small plates, choose a sandwich at lunch, settle into a Psalter classic or order a steak from the grill.
It is relaxed enough for a hotel guest who just wants a burger and a pint, but still carries the care, preparation and quality expected from The Psalter kitchen.
Some evenings call for dinner. Others call for a few plates in the middle of the table and a round of cocktails. Fridays at The Psalter have become a particular favourite for exactly that.
Drop in after work, meet friends or turn one drink into an evening. There is no ceremony required.
Not every night away needs a formal dinner. Sometimes you have checked in, put the bags down and all you want is a comfortable seat, a pint and a proper burger.
The Bar gives our hotel guests somewhere relaxed to eat and drink without leaving The Psalter, while still being welcoming enough that locals and residents share the same room.
The Bar can also become part of something bigger. Our lounge bar can be hired exclusively for drinks receptions of up to 30 guests, while our main bar is available for larger events of 50 or more guests.
Some room hire may apply and every event is shaped around the date, numbers and what you actually want to create. We do not want to start by handing you a generic package and asking you to fit your celebration into it.
Across The Psalter, we host everything from intimate weddings for six guests through to full exclusive use for up to 150.
We will replace this temporary enquiry route when the dedicated Private Hire and Events gateways are built.

No. The Psalter Bar is open to everyone and is intended to be as much a neighbourhood bar for local guests as it is a bar for hotel residents.
The Bar is open daily from 8am.
Lunch is served Thursday-Saturday from 12pm-3pm. Dinner is served Wednesday-Saturday from 5pm-8:30pm.
Cocktail Hour runs from 5pm-6:30pm, with 50% off all cocktails.
